A Message from the President

I am happy to welcome you to the Lubbock Christian School website. It is my great honor to serve the students, faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, and community, as President of this tremendous institution. We at LCS are grateful for our heritage of Christian education and for the countless blessings that God has lavished upon the school since it opened in 1954. Our greatest goal is to firmly establish the good news of Jesus Christ as the focal point and guiding purpose for our existence. We firmly believe that placing Jesus at the center of our educational programs enables us to develop graduates who live God-honoring lives, epitomize excellence, and who’s worldview is oriented to Jesus Christ and His teachings.

Even though we have been blessed with first class academic, fine arts, and athletic facilities, the real story of this first-class institution can be clearly seen through the people that have been or are currently a part of this great place. LCS partners with parents and students of all backgrounds to develop graduates who have become “lights to the world” as well as leaders in their professions. Our highly qualified and talented faculty and staff are committed to the development of the whole child and to the raising up of our children in God’s word. The families that comprise LCS are a close-knit community who daily demonstrate love and support for one another and for our school.

My wife Kelli and I are humbled and honored to be a part of what is happening here at Lubbock Christian. We are grateful to dedicate our service to the advancement of Christian education and to helping young people find their identities in Christ’s love for them. I would like to extend to you a personal invitation to come visit our campus and experience the real story of Lubbock Christian School. Please let us know if we can provide further information or assist you in any way. It is a great time to be an Eagle!

We believe that God has disclosed himself and his intentions through the revelation of his Son, Jesus Christ. Sin, however, has distorted man’s view of God, of creation, of himself, and of his fellow man. Consequently, we believe that true education is an ongoing process whereby we are led to better understand ourselves and the world. This is leading us to ultimately comprehend it as God’s world. Further, because God has created us as persons in community, we believe that true education involves learning to live together with all persons as the family of God. It is our understanding that all truth, properly understood, is God’s truth and should be pursued and celebrated as such. Thus, those who are charged by parents to participate in the education of their children must integrate biblical faith with all disciplines in order to help the student view himself and his world through the eyes of faith. Teachers must exemplify this faith personally because Christian education has as much to do with character and conduct as it does with data and facts. It includes the development of dispositions, attitudes, and conduct that reflect faith and trust in the Creator and Redeemer of the universe.

Lubbock Christian School is dedicated to providing a quality environment in which each student will grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

LCS strives for excellence spiritually, personally, and professionally among those associated with the school and has a persistent focus on improvement. For this reason, efforts are ongoing to not only advance the physical campus, but the learning and overall experience of our faculty, staff, and school families as well.

Core Values:

We are devoted to knowing, teaching, and living God’s Word.

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

Deuteronomy 6:6-8

Led by the Spirit.

Our interaction with students, families, co-workers and visitors is guided by the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

Shining Light

Our lives and our campus are a visible reflection of our faith.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

Committed to Excellence and Improvement

We strive for excellence spiritually, personally, and professionally with a persistent focus on improvement.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your hear, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Colossians 3:23-24

About Us

As the oldest private school in the greater Lubbock area, Lubbock Christian School (LCS) began serving families in 1954. It was part of a dream that became a vision, then a plan, and finally a reality. LCS was the first step taken by a large group of supporters, led by five men along with their families: Paul Sherrod, J.C. Rigney, J.B. McCorkle, W.T. Rogers, and J. Don Baldridge.

The initial classes on the current campus were held in 1958, and the Class of 1965 was the first to graduate from Lubbock Christian High School. No church governs or subsidizes Lubbock Christian School, although the school was founded and is directed by members of Churches of Christ. LCS offers classes for pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. The school is fully accredited through AdvancEd and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC), which is fully approved and recognized by the Texas Education Agency. Lubbock Christian School welcomes families of all faiths and admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.

Lubbock Christian School graduates exceptional students. These individuals go on to lead lives of integrity and character equipped with the spirit of hope, service, and drive to succeed. Over 95% of Lubbock Christian School graduates continue through to higher education and professional careers.
